Boot disk plugin in the orcharhino installer

Boot disk plugin in the orcharhino installer

We have recently integrated the boot disk plugin in the orcharhino installer.

This extension provides various bootable disk images for download at orcharhino.

These can now be used to conveniently install hosts without having to maintain a PXE environment in your network.

This is particularly useful if the network infrastructure, such as DHCP, DNS, TFTP, cannot or can only partially be managed by orcharhino.

If you use the VMWare compute resource, the plugin even takes care of inserting the hybrid image into the virtual CD drive during installation.

The boot disks come in various expansion stages for this purpose:

For example, if you use the host-specific images, you do not need a DHCP service, as the network is completely configured by the boot disk.

There is also a specific ‘complete’ image. This already contains the operating system installer so that the tftp service is not required.

There are also generic images that only avoid booting with PXE, but can be used on all hosts.

This requires a DHCP service, which does not have to be under the control of orcharhino   .

The use of smart proxies has also been considered. In this case, the boot disk images are simply preconfigured with the corresponding subnet.

This additional feature makes our orcharhino   even more adaptable to the wide range of application scenarios that we encounter with our customers.
