ORCHARHINO-INSTALLER PLUGIN SELECTION

ORCHARHINO-INSTALLER PLUGIN SELECTION

The introduction of the web-based orcharhino-installer is a great relief for the installationorcharhino installation. It is therefore logical to take the next step now.

As Linux administrators, we like to work with the shell and deliberately do without a graphical user interface. Secretly, however, we also long for a little support from time to time. This happens above all when, for example, we have just had to look up the required command line parameter in the man page again.

To avoid this in future, we have created the orcharhino-installer. This installs and configures the most important basic settings orcharhino independently. Previously, the operating systems to be configured were already available for selection.

We have now made a further addition. Plugins are now available for installation. Previously, these were either installed or had to be installed and configured via the shell. This can now be done simply by clicking in the orcharhino-installer. The following plugins are available:

Remote Execution Plugin

This plugin is used to execute command line commands on the rolled out hosts. To do this, select the desired host and click on “Schedule Remote Job” in the drop-down menu under “Select Action”. The command line to be executed can now be entered here and the scheduled time of execution specified.

This useful plugin is marked for installation by default. However, it can be deselected in the orcharhino-installer is possible.

DHCP Browser

orcharhino takes over the management of the DHCP entries. As a Linux professional, you are now in a bit of a dilemma. On the one hand, you are of course happy if you don’t have to create a new entry for every new host on the DHCP server. On the other hand, you naturally want to be informed about all processes and be able to edit them, for example to create an IP configuration for a host not monitored byorcharhino monitored host.

A workaround or compromise is the DHCP browser plugin, which provides an additional menu under the orcharhino configured subnets provides an additional menu under the DHCP button:

The menu provides an overview of existing DHCP entries and the option of deleting them or creating new entries.

But be careful: think carefully before you delete an entry on one of the orcharhino managed hosts.
