What is Ubuntu?

Ubuntu is a distribution based on Debian GNU/Linux. Particularly on the client side, it has attracted a lot of attention due to its comparatively simple installation and operation and therefore enjoys great popularity, especially among Linux beginners. Besides RHEL and SLES, Ubuntu is the third major representative of Linux-based operating systems in the enterprise environment and has the advantage of a huge package selection compared to the first two.
